American Association of Blacks in Energy

American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE)

The American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) is a well-established membership organization whose mission is to ensure the input of Blacks and other minorities into the discussion and development of energy policies, regulations, R&D technologies, and environmental issues. Our members typically join the Association to network with other highly regarded professionals and to keep abreast of the current issues in the energy industry. Currently, AABE has 39 active chapter in six geographic regions in the United States.

To ensure that vulnerable communities are not disproportionately impacted by national energy or environmental policies, we carry out our mission through numerous focused initiatives, partnerships, and ????.

Careers in Energy: Current and Future

One of the key actions that AABE is dedicated to is focusing on efforts to increase Black employment in the energy field. It is time that we find great talent where they are, not where we want them to be.  We, along with our partners, must take advantage of the networks available to us to facilitate inclusive environments.

We want you to be aware of the number of energy positions available in your communities and to understand how you can have a great career in this critical industry. These are good-paying jobs with good benefits that can change your life, your family’s lives and your entire community for the better.

The energy sector added almost 300,000 jobs last year, about a 3.8% growth rate from 2021 to 2022. Bob Keefe, executive director of the national, nonpartisan business group E2, said, “We’re only getting started.”

The forecast suggests that within the next 20 years, some companies will still produce fossil fuels, renewables could account for almost 70% of the world’s energy mix, while nearly 80% less carbon will be emitted into the air. The majority of positions in the energy sector, such as electricians, power plant operators, and riggers, are essential for both traditional and renewable energy sources.

The energy sector is one of the nation’s fastest-growing job markets and the number of energy related jobs is only going to grow in the future!

AABE’s Commitment: Share Information and Guide You on How to Secure Energy Careers.
