Programs We Offer
We run numerous programs to help our communities. Here are a few of our programs:
Head Start: Gateway Head Start/Early Head Start offers a school readiness program for children ages 0-5 at locations throughout Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Salem and Mercer counties in New Jersey, as well as Early Head Start locations across Philadelphia, Pa. Transportation is available at many sites. Services may be free to eligible families.
WIC (Women, Infants and Children): The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program is one of Gateway’s largest outreach programs, serving thousands of clients in Atlantic, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem counties.
WIC is a supplemental nutrition program for eligible women, infants and children and provides eWIC benefits for nutritious foods and baby formula. In addition, participants receive education on proper nutrition, health screenings and referrals for additional services.
Social Services: Gateway Community Action Partnership’s Home Energy Assistance Program helps very low-income residents with their heating and cooling bills, and makes provisions for emergency heating system services and emergency fuel assistance.
LOW INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (LIHEAP)LIHEAP or HEA is a federally funded program that helps low-income households pay for heating costs (includes: electric, natural gas, oil and other deliverable fuels). Even if your heat is included in your rent, you may qualify. LIHEAP grants are also available for medically necessary cooling costs.
UNIVERSAL SERVICE FUND (USF)USF is a program created by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities to help low-income households pay for their electric and natural gas costs.
Code Blue
The Cumberland Code Blue program is initiated when the temperatures are 32 degrees with precipitation or 25 degrees without precipitation. Warming Centers are provided as a way for homeless persons in the community to find shelter from frigid overnight temperatures during the cold months.
Seniors
Foster Grandparent Program/AmeriCorps Senior Volunteers
Gateway is committed to helping Americans 55 and older serve their communities.
As an AmeriCorps senior volunteer, seniors guide students to higher academic achievement and care for premature infants or children with disabilities. The Foster Grandparent program connects senior role models with young people with exceptional needs.
