Celebrating Women’s History Month: Sharing the Stories of Women Leaders in Energy
This year the Department of Energy celebrated Women’s History Month by showcasing the accomplishments of women leaders and innovators across its offices and the greater energy sector.
In his 2023 Proclamation of Women’s History Month, President Biden stated that women, “as innovators, entrepreneurs, and essential workers in every industry, they represent the very best of America.”
Across the clean energy sector in particular, the increased participation of women in the workface has led to increasingly modern and sustainable energy solutions for our nation and the world.
The Department of Energy highlighted some of our nation’s most accomplished women leaders in the energy space with its recent livestream, “Our Stories, Our Future: Women in Energy.” Dr. Beatriz Cuartas moderated and highlighted the stories of U.S. Representative Nanette Barragán, Sheri Bone, Betony Jones, and Gale Hauck.
Women’s History Month may have come to a close, but our celebration of women in this industry will not. Each day, women in the field overcome immense obstacles to build an energy future that is more equitable and more sustainable for all. We must continue to honor and share their stories as they make this vision of clean energy a reality.
